A couple years ago we had the pleasure of photographing Doug & Cara’s engagement session at her family’s home on Lake Michigan. Now, nearly a year after their wedding, we were invited back out to Stonington to capture Cara’s family pictures. It was rare to have all the family together in one spot so they wanted to seize the moment.
A short drive from Rapid River we arrived at their home. The summer sun was slowly going down and the sounds of waves crashing on the beach filled the air. The only child in the group was Cara’s nephew and boy oh boy is he loved. It was fun to watch his mannerisms and they way he was doted upon by each family member.
The session started near the water and gradually meandered around the property. With a mix of woods, water, and an amazing barn we had plenty of places to choose from for backdrops. Their color palette of creams, blues, and white for their outfits worked perfectly for their summer family portraits.
It is hard to put into words how much fun we had that evening, there was never a dull moment. Even the dogs joined in on the action. We wrapped up the evening chatting away with this incredible evening. Big thanks again to all of them for inviting us into their home and allowing us the chance to capture such an incredible evening. Enjoy!
His smile says it all! The day was filled with fun!
He was such a little ham! His playful ways had us constantly capturing him and we loved it!
Their pup didn’t want to stop being pet, so he nudge his way into more, haha.
